Jerry Rice, Jr.

I’m not sure how Jerry Rice, Jr. dresses around Menlo School, but I do know he got pretty darn good “genes” from his Mom & Dad . . . the outstanding high school wide receiver has been given extra duties the past two weeks by his Menlo Park (CA) coach . . . he’s been moved under center to the quarterback position . . . and, he has done exceptionally well there.

In his first appearance as a varsity QB (in Menlo’s 29-26 win over Terra Nova), “J.R. Jr.” completed all nine of his pass attempts for 108 yards, ran for 178 yards (& two touchdowns) and caught a 30-yard TD pass . . . one of his two rushing scores, a 31-yard scamper on 3rd-and-8, proved to be the game winner.  Then, in his second appearance, a 28-7 win over South San Francisco HS, Rice passed for 136 yards and ran for 80 more.  He’s being shown interest from Yale, Princeton, San Jose State, Arizona, UCLA, Stanford & Cal, among other schools.  He’s a natural . . . at any position . . . and that could have something to do with those “genes” I mentioned.
